Store Policies

Inventory & Product Availability

Island Music Company is a full-line retail music store and has thousands of instruments in stock. We work hard to keep our online store up-to-date with our current inventory levels. Occasionally some items listed on the website are no longer in stock at our retail store and may ship to you directly from the manufacturer. In the event we are out of a particular item you will be notified immediately.

Likewise, some items that are in stock at our retail location may not be listed on the website yet. If there is a musical instrument or equipment that you do not see on our website, call us at 301-392-3960 to speak to a sales representative and they will be happy to assist you with special orders.

Domestic Shipping

We typically ship our products via UPS Ground Service. Delivery can take 1 to 7 days. Please allow our shipping department an additional 1-4 days to process, package and ship your order. Many in-stock items will ship the same day!

UPS will NOT deliver to APO, FPO, or PO Boxes. If you need items sent to these destinations we will ship via US Postal Service. US shipping is to the lower 48 states only. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico may incur additional charges. Free Ground Shipping does not apply to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.


International Shipping

International shipments are mailed via US Postal Service Priority International. Shipping time takes between 7-10 days for most destinations. However, it may take up to 21 days for shipments to arrive and clear customs. If you want faster shipping and more detailed tracking information we also use USPS Express International please contact us for a shipping quote.

Island Music Company is NOT responsible for customs duties or any other additional duties, taxes or fees imposed by your country. Sorry, but we are unable to declare a lower value on customs forms. Please be advised that doing so also decreases the insurance value of the item, and therefore does not guarantee full reimbursement in the event of loss, theft or damage.


Insurance Claims Procedures

In the unfortunate event that your item arrives damaged or not at all, please contact Island Music Company as soon as possible to initiate the claims process. Please be aware that Island Music Company is not at fault for lost or damaged packages. Insurance claims are to be paid by the shipping company since the package was lost or damaged while in their care. Please save all original packaging and any postal documentation for proof until the claim has been approved.



We will exchange a defective item for the same item within 14 days of receipt. If your purchase is incompatible with your setup, or you simply do not like your purchase, we will exchange for an alternative item or store credit, less shipping fees (including those which may have been incurred on “free shipping” items).

Items that cannot be returned include: software, items with contents or packaging that is damaged/missing, and items that are considered for personal use (such as earphones, headphones, microphones, instrument mouthpieces, or other items that you wouldn't want to purchase if someone else had previously used them). Items which we do not normally stock (i.e. "Special Orders", discontinued products, close-outs, used products, etc.) are non-returnable. We strongly suggest that you check your order after receiving it to be sure that it is in proper working order.

Shipping and handling costs are non-refundable, including a reasonable shipping cost calculated into free US shipping best offer prices.

Please contact us for our Return Form and return ship instructions before returning any items. Upon receipt of the returned product a credit will be issued according to your payment method. If any product is damaged in shipping, you should address the issue promptly with the appropriate carrier. Any return sent back without contacting us and completing a return form will NOT be processed.

All new products purchased from Island Music Company come with a Limited Manufacturer's Warranty for customers within the United States. Some Manufacturer’s Warranties are not valid outside of the United States. Some items must be registered with the manufacturer by the customer before the warranty takes effect. Please ask your sales person for further information.
